About the Conference

First International Advanced Practice Nursing Conference 2020 with the theme “Nurse and Midwife – Catalyst for a Brighter Future in Health” is organized by the Hong Kong Academy of Nursing, collaborated with Hospital Authority, Department of Health, Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Open University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Tung Wah College and Caritas Institute of Higher Education. This conference marks the special significance of year 2020 to the nursing profession, given that the World Health Organization (WHO) has designated 2020 as the “International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife” and in celebration 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale. This is our year to celebrate all that was great about Florence Nightingale, as well as the nurses and midwives she inspired to follow in her footsteps. She was not only a nurse for the wounded, but that she was a statistician, a suffragette, a public health reformer and was rightfully the face of modern nursing. We are continuing her legacy empowering and developing nursing and midwifery leaders to improve patient and health outcomes and creating a brighter future in health. The 3 day conference features 2 pre-congress workshops, 3 keynote sessions, 2 plenary sessions, 10 parallel advanced specialty nursing symposia, industrial showcases and exhibitions. Distinguished keynote speakers include Dr. Melanie ROGERS, Chair, Core Steering Group, Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nursing Network, International Council of Nurses, Prof. Christine PATCH from UK to speak on Genomics and Nursing Practice and Prof. Jack NEEDLEMAN from USA to speak on Health Policy and Economics. The event is expected to attract over 450 participants from around the world. It proudly distinguishes itself among others as a converted and interactive platform for leading academics, specialty nursing and midwifery experts and policy makers from around the world to share their nursing excellences in advanced nursing practice as well as open the ways in developing, enhancing, shaping and advancing health in future. Another highlight of our conference will be the sharing and latest update from global nursing leaders on the critical roles of nurses surely play in addressing global health challenges i.e. managing the Covid-19 pandemics in 2020. Best oral and poster presentation awards will be offered to participants to encourage evidenced base practice and research.
